Add, Edit, Delete Holiday

➕ Add a New Holiday or Event

Follow these steps to create a new holiday:

  • Open Settings → Holiday from the sidebar.
  • Click the “+ Add” button at the top-right of the Holiday module.
  • Fill in the required fields:
    • Date * → Select the exact day of the holiday or event.
    • Title * → Example: Independence Day, Christmas, Company Picnic, Founder’s Day, My Birthday.
    • Description (Optional) → Add extra details such as event notes, timings, dress code, etc.
  • Click Save / OK.
  • The holiday or event will instantly appear in the holiday list (and calendar view if enabled), the Dashboard’s Holiday card, and the Announcements feed.

✏️ Edit an Existing Holiday

If you want to update a previously added holiday:

  • Open the Holiday Module from the sidebar menu (Settings → Holiday).
  • Use the Global Search, Date Filter, or Title Filter to find the holiday you want to modify.
  • Click the Edit (✏️) icon next to the holiday.
  • Update the fields you want to change (date, title, or description).
  • Click Save / OK to apply the changes.

🗑️ Delete a Holiday

To remove a holiday from the list:

  • Open the Holiday Module.
  • Find the holiday using search or filters.
  • Click the Delete (🗑️) icon next to that holiday.
  • Confirm the deletion in the pop-up message.

⚠️ Warning: Deleted holidays cannot be restored. If removed by mistake, you will need to add the holiday again manually.

📥 Bulk Import (recommended for year-start)

Adding holidays one-by-one for a full year is tedious. Use bulk import instead:

  1. Open the Actions kebab menu on the Holiday list and choose Import.
  2. Click Download Sample — you get a pre-formatted Excel template.
  3. Fill in all national and company holidays for the year.
  4. Upload the file and click Validate & Import.
  5. If any row has an error, the system shows a list — nothing imports until you fix the errors and re-upload.

📌 Important Notes

  • Only Admin users or users with Holiday Edit/Delete permissions can modify holiday data.
  • If you do not see Edit or Delete icons, contact your System Administrator.
  • All events added here will also appear in the Announcements widget on user dashboards (if enabled).
  • Holidays recorded in this module are not counted as leave days.
  • For personal leave tracking, use the Leaves Module.
  • Holidays automatically reduce working days in salary generation.

💡 Tips & Best Practices

  • Admins: Add all official public holidays for the entire year in advance to avoid confusion. Use Bulk Import to do this in one shot.
  • Teams: You may also add birthdays, celebrations, team outings, training sessions, etc.
  • Stay Updated: If the government announces new holidays or changes existing ones, update them immediately.
  • Use Descriptions: Add small notes to provide clarity about events — useful for celebrations, special timings, or internal announcements.
